What are framing mats used for?
A Passe-partout is a cardboard sheet with a cut-out, which is placed over the picture (whatever it is a canvas, a pastel, a watercolour, a print or a drawing). It may be used under the glass or with standard frames.

The passe-partout enhances the visual appeal of the picture and creates a harmonious transition between the frame and the picture. The choice of this accessory depends on the predominant colours of the picture and of the frame. Passe-partouts are available in a wide variety of colours
